Lovely to see my best bud from 4th grade keeping the faith. Myself, I have very mixed feelings in re: AI, but sometimes it brings about beautiful monsters...
And I am also 100% on board with TIM's glow-up, though it has nothing to do with AI - if, however, AI can somehow make, say, DON'T TELL A SOUL suck less vigorously, I'll let all that environmental destruction slide...
I knew I recognized that name! Amazing! Agreed re: Don’t Tell A Soul, although the Matt Wallace mixes do some solid work to correct that. And yes, Tim wasn’t reconstructed with AI, but its remix and remaster has its share of foes, for some ungodly reason. Most likely due to the inherent contrarianism in Gen X music afficianados
Present company excepted, of course. (Snicker - my 90s rock-crit days were an absolute morass of self-righteous, Bangs-damaged snark 'n sneer.) Pleased to see that you remain a man of impeccable taste - we were both Orson Welles stans at age ten! And your appreciation of Albert Brooks films and other worthies of the true cognoscenti tells me that we could and should have remained pals to this day, savoring gourmet art drippings while attending to our various pulled muscles and pinched nerves. Stay gold, Ponyboy.
“My curiosity quite often outweighs my good sense, but I’m also not a cat.” I love
your writing, man.
Thanks pal! Much appreciated!
